Shay graduated with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the Queensland University of Technology in 2004 and completed her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at Griffith University in 2005. She was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in November 2005.
Shay has practised in criminal law since she was admitted. Shay has worked as a defence lawyer and a prosecutor over the past 15 years. She has also practised in restraining orders, family law and care and protection during much of that time. This gives her a rare skill set and perspective in dealing with matters which overlap some or all of these areas.
She is passionate about fighting for the best outcome for her clients and loves nothing more than a challenge. Shay has represented clients on everything from traffic offences to a murder appeal.
In her spare time, Shay loves to watch sport, catch up with friends and spend time with her cat Simba. She also spends too much time watching Law and Order SVU and Wentworth.
