Gerard Ferrao is a dedicated legal professional with extensive experience across multiple areas of law, including Local Government Law, Administrative Law, Civil Law, Wills & Inheritances, Corporate Governance & Board Management.

Gerard holds multiple qualifications from the University of Adelaide, including a Bachelor of Laws (2014) and a Master of Arts in Cross-Cultural Communication (2004). He also earned a Bachelor of Economics (1997) & a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (2015), which he completed through the Law Society of South Australia. In addition, he holds a Certificate in Sales and Marketing from TAFE (1993).

He was admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia on 21 September 2015 & the High Court of Australia in 2016.

With a strong passion for justice and governance, Gerard has built a reputation for his expertise in statutory interpretation, problem-solving, advocacy, and meticulous attention to detail. His commitment to clients is unwavering, ensuring that each matter is handled with professionalism, dedication, and a results-driven approach.

Beyond his legal work, Gerard is an active community leader. He also serves as a Justice of the Peace (No: 25709) for South Australia and is a current elected member of the Royal Association of Justices SA State Board. He is also an Ambassador for White Ribbon Australia, advocating for an end to violence against women and children, and is involved with Neighbourhood Watch SA and the Society of St Vincent DePaul, where he engages in social justice advocacy.

Previously, Gerard was a member of the Public Sector Appeals Tribunal and Remuneration Panel (SA), contributing his expertise in public administration and governance. In 2017 Gerard was bestowed the title “Honorary Freeman” when he was granted the Keys to the City of Charles Sturt Council for his outstanding work in building community capacity.

In his free time, he enjoys relaxing by the beachfront, watching the moonlight over the sea, and spending time at family picnics. He has a keen interest in collecting silver bullion coins and single malt aged scotch whisky.
